338 Win Mag Load

It looks like I will get to go on my first Elk hunt this fall, need to get the 338 win mag shooting.
I have 225gr accubonds, looking for any advice or others with load data or advice.

When I went on safari with Ed Bell a few years back I took a .338 Win Mag with 225gr Swift A Frames pushed by Ramshot Magnum powder.

For Elk, the A Frames may be a bit too much so I'd the Nosler Partitions a look.

I always used IMR 4350 and magnum primers in my 338 Win mag. I shot Nosler partitions exclusively for elk. I've used 210, 225 and 250 gr partitions on elk, and they all killed like The Fist of God. I don't think I ever recovered one, even the 210 gr passed all the way through the elk and exited the animal. I think I finally "settled" on the 225 partition as my permanent "go to" elk load. I think you'll be fine with the accubonds. My favorite shot is one that I can line up a front shoulder in the bullet path to the vitals, either on the way in, or on the way out. Breaking the shoulder breaks down the animal and parks it right there. I've never had one take a step after being shot, and they normally go down like the very ground has been ripped out from under their hooves.

The 338 Win mag is my favorite elk round. My 375 H&H doesn't kill them any faster, and it weighs 2 pounds more. Only reason I sold my 338 is because I moved from AZ to ND a few years ago, and elk tags here are one in a lifetime. I kept the 375 though.
