    difference between Weaver& picatinny rails?

I vaguely remember reading that Weaver& 1913 rails were very similar, can anyone shed some light on this?
Whenever the legislators endeavor to take away and destroy the property of the people, or to reduce them to slavery under arbitrary power, they put themselves into a state of war with the people, who are thereupon absolved from any further obedience

As stated in the article the profile of the rails are the same.

The cross slots for the Picatinny are 10 mm apart and consistent. We have had cases where a customer had one super scope and was able to use it on two (or more) different guns. In this case a Remington Short action and a Long action. He reported that when switching the point of impact moved 2 1/2 inches from gun to gun. The best thing was he did not have to change his ring location.

We have measured cross slots down to .140 wide on Non Picatinny rails smaller than the stated .180. Also not mentioned the cross slots on the weaver typically are not as deep. Picatinny Rail you're looking at .117 deep allowing larger cross bolts with more engagement.

Most any ring, clamp on scope, mount ring combo will fit on a Picatinny rail.

I can tell you that the difference is enough that I had to send my Farrell base out to have the slots machined wider to accept my Seekins Precision rings.
