Mount for Savage 11 Hog Hunter

So, I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on buying a Hog Hunter in 308. What scope base should I get? I would prefer a cheap one due to my budget. The scope is (probably) gonna be a Millett 4x16x50 scope. This will be used for long range and hunting.

Is that scope ok? Seems to have good reviews.

Is this a hunting rifle? If it is I suggest looking into the DNZ Gamereaper one piece mounts. I just bought my third one. I am pretty rough on rifles in the woods and it hasn't let me down.

Edit: Just reread your post. The DNZ prob won't be your best bet if you are shooting long range with it as well as hunting.

I have a Weaver 48338 (pic rail) on my hog hunter. Until Saturday it had a Vortex Viper on it mounted with Leupold PRW rings. It is solid as a rock. I have shot it out to 600 yards without problem.

That depends on if you have enough vertical adjustment to bring the scope back to zero at say; 100 yards.

If you decide to ever change your scope, you can send your dead nuts base back in and they can mill a 20 MOA cant on it for about $70.
