Too cool! Sorry to ear about your nephew's dad, but it sounds like his dad has a lot to be proud of. And good family support as well. Great day, huh?!
My daughter, 10, and her cousin, 10, both were able to have successful hunts Saturday for the Missouri youth season. My daughter used my AR-15 with 64 grain Nosler partitions. 95 yards and she dropped it in its tracks. I could not believe the performance of the bullet. Deer was 1/4 towards her and the shot went in about 6" back from the shoulder and blew a 3' hole at the last rib on the opposite side.
The cousin dropped his with his father's 30-30 lever action. He insisted on using the 30-30 since his father was a Missouri Highway Patrolman killed in the line on duty in 2005. What a great weekend. Very proud of these kids.

Congrads on a great hunt
Love seeing the kids have success!
Thanks guys it was great. Correction on the bullet used, it was a 64 Nosler bonded performance bullet.
Just something about kids in the field seems to make hunting even more special. Thanks for passing it on.
A good wife and a steady job has ruined many a great hunter.
That's great, snowgetter! Great job passing on the tradition, and taking care of your nephew too!
Looks like a good hunt.
It's great to see the young people out there, carrying on the tradition. They are the future of the sport. I hope they stay with it, and bring others in, also.
