    Replacing a factory scope

The reticule on my savage axis in 30-06 just snapped on the upper part cross hair, I'm looking to replace the scope but being new to this I'm curious which optic I should go for I plan to use the gun for hunting coyotes to elk hunting and long range marksmanship. the rifle already has a custom stock, bedding job, and a trigger job.
I know that I don't want to go with another bushnell optic after this. I am open suggestions of what optic I should go for.

voodoo, it would help if you can give us an idea of the price range you're looking at. There are so many good scopes out there at just about every price point, that telling us what you want to spend for the replacement scope will help sort through all the options.

    Price range?

When elk hunting, what range are you likely to be shooting from?

What do you consider long range marksmanship?

For example, SWFA 3-15 SS at $699 might be a good choice, might be out of your price range. Primary Arms 4-14x44 for $229 might be more appropriate. Or any of about 1,000 others.

I have 2 Redfield Revolution 4-12x40 scopes I've been quite happy with. About $250, backed by the Leupold warranty.

Agree with the others. We need to know your budget and how far you plan to shoot.

The cheapest scope I would put on a hunting gun and expect it to work when the chips are down is a Leupold VX-II 3-9 or 2-7.

Since you didn't say, and are talking about "factory scope", I'll assume cheap is the order for this rifle...?

In using both, I like the SWFA 3-15X for many reasons, but if you are going to shoot long distance(1,000+) it is not the best glass for mirage. My $230 Primary Arms FFP 4-14X is MUCH better than the SWFA.
I'm a firm believer in the theory that if it bleeds, I can kill it.
