I finally got my 243 project gun finished tonight.

It's off to the range tomorrow with some 75 gr and 80 gr test loads for barrel break in and bore sighting. I also have some 87 gr Vmax's I want to try later on, after the bbl is broken in.

Ultimate goal is 500-600 yard targets, paper and prairie dogs...

I'll post some pictures up tomorrow night.

Good luck Chris, I'm betting it's going to be a good shooter. It has a good foundation afterall LOL...

OK, range day with the new 243. I started off with some Speer 80 gr hot core's to break it in. These are loaded with IMR 4350, the best group was 41.0 grs, and is in the bottom rt corner. Nothing to write home about, but I've always had mediocre groups with that bullet. Still plenty good if this was a deer rifle...

The last group I shot was some 87 gr vmax's at my "starting load" of 41.0 grs of IMR 4350. It was getting hot, and I was getting hungry, and my shooting buddy was getting cranky too.

The first 4 shots went into the group. Then, I turned to my buddy and shot my mouth off about it before I shot the last one, and yup, I pulled it. Figures, gotta learn to keep my mouth shut...

Here's a couple of the rifle. Note the obligatory can wrap...

I'll be shooting more of the 87 gr vmax's next time out, and maybe some 105's if I can round some up locally.
