    Tactical Savage Rimfire?

Has anyone bought one of these stocks? I love the look but I don't like the fact that the bolt cannot be removed unless the receiver is removed from the stock (that is the only reason I don't have one yet).

I love the look also, but how on earth do you clean the bolt then? Remove the receiver? That would be a serious PITA especially considering the stock would end up costing at least 2x what a new Mk II costs.

I'm considering starting a new build around a stock like this one: http://www.troupsystems.com/rimfire%20para%20stocks.htm Looks like it would be pretty straightforard to make: get a nice piece of 2"x2" wood, a router, and a drill press. I'm thinking of using a Savage 64F or Marlin 795 as a base for the build.

Yeah...I'm gonna have to say I'm not impressed - at all. Looking at it the only place the designer spent any real time was where the AR components attach, everything else looks half-finished. Tons and tons of material there that doesn't need to be there and removing it would greatly improve both it's appearance and the ergo's. Not only that, I'm betting you'd also cut the weight by 10-15% in the process.
