I am new to site. I have a savage 7mm rem mag model 111trophy hunter drop mag, that is side button release and staggered feed.
i have been searching online for a wood stock. Want up grade from my plastic. I read Richard microfit will make it but very poor quality. Anyone know best place or does savage make factory stock. I have emailed savage and no response yet
Don't know of anyone making aftermarket stocks - wood or synthetic - for the old staggered feed side-release DBM's. If a factory wood stock will do then you might try Numrich's as they might have something they took off a gun they parted out. The other option would be to convert it to a blind magazine which would give you lots of options for stocks.

Boyds site says only for newer style center fed mag, trying to keep mag button release.
I have done four 110's with the old style, side button release, stagger feed DBM's. Numrich has some beautiful walnut cut checkered original factory stocks. I think they were originally for the model 114's not sure. Not sure if they will work with the 7mm mag. I did 30-06, 260, 308 and 270. All on the long action 110's. They were originally blind mag models, but I was able to scrounge up the DBM hardware and have been very happy with them. The stocks were beautiful after stripping, and applying Tru-oil and then rubbing down with pumice for a satin finish. Somewhere here I have pics.
So savage should still have stocks for 114

Nope. As Baker said, I don't think anyone makes them. Those walnuts are nice, though. Price is good. Bed the action with JB weld and you won't need laminate. Might cost you $15 counting tape and kiwi neutral shoe polish.Originally Posted by Curtis

111 and 114 are the same action. 114 is just a higher grade walnut stock and maybe better FINISH on the metal. I am 99.99% certain it will work. My only question is what is the difference, if any, due to the 7mm mag??? Most everyone else here can tell ya. I am quite sure there is no difference though, in regards to the stocks.
Not sure if my 7mm being long action makes any difference.
The stocks I am referring to are for long actions, so that's another "plus".
I must say thank you for link to that site I never knew savage had that nice of gun stocks till now. I will be calling them on Monday to place an order and see if I can make one of the thumb hole stocks will work, that was design I was after.
For thumbhole, I would look to Boyds for a long action, top bolt release, staqgger feed blind mag thumbhole stock. Then inlet it yourself as necessary for the bottom metal and drill a hole in the side of the stock for the side mag release button. Numrich has the escutcheon for the side button. Have never done it, but I don't see why it couldn't be done. Since you already have a factory stock for that model, you may be able to see how it's inlet and then duplicate it on the thumbhole. Don't be afraid to "hack away" at the inside with a dremel because anything you might "overcut" or mess up can be easily refilled and repaired with AcraGlass.
My rifle has the plastic stock, going with that walnut stock from link are there any other parts needed or would be direct bolt on.
You will need the bottom metal that surrounds the magazine well. I think Numeric has that as well. Will try to locate layer today.
The bottom metal you are referring to I would need that also if I choose the route of getting Boyd stock and going at it with dermal. Your post really got me thinking that way, they have very nice stocks and price wise not bad at all even if mess up.

You say i would need new button also for mag release. Do they brake on removal. I would take apart now but deer season in a week dont want miss that.
The button should not break. There is a plastic "trim piece" that surrounds the hole the button goes through. That trim piece is a few dollars at Numrich and also, the buttons are avail from them if you lose it. Having said all of that, I would not want to start a new project this close to deer season. Keep what you have now, get through the season and then start playing around with it when there's no time crunch.
I am pretty sure that is the way I will go, just been trying boyds all day never got through , there site says if order is over 100 us they will not ship out of country , and I am from Ontario Canada. with that all being said I will get my parts list in order for the plate , that plastic, oil etc ready for job after the hunt.
Been searching site for the parts is this the floor plate you refer to for the 114 model SKU: 1352910B, if so all I can find is sold out, why is this floor plate needed if I do not have that on my rifle?
I cannot locate that part either. If that is the right part number, it is sold out. Sometimes you have to look at numerous pages to find what you are looking for. In my opinion, if you can't locate one of those, don't bother with the stock. It is necessary to have one because it serves as a solid foundation to mount the action to. It is a metal piece that surrounds the opening for the magazine well and is not used on the plastic versions, but is for the wood. Wood stocks need that piece because it acts as a washer for your action screws and the stock is in-letted for it. I suppose if you already had the stock and were just missing that piece (and were really good with Devkon 10110, for example), you might be able to fabricate something to fill the void in the stock that the floor plate fills, I do not know. I nearly attempted to do so but got lucky and found that piece. I am not sure if I bought the last one from Numrich, but I know I managed to acquire 4 or 5 of them last winter. Let me look around the mess I call my shop/workbench and see if I have an extra one laying around. If I do, I might be persuaded to send it to you just because I feel bad talking you into this project only to find out you can't do it w/o that part.
