1907 need Pistol smith?

So i purchased a four digit serial # 1907 it was filthy and i soaked it in Kroil....cleaned it up took it apart no problem. Now i am trying to get it aprt to replace some springs and now when i mopve the slide back i cannot get the safety to move so i can lock the slide and take it down. I own five of these pistols so i am familiar with the take down process.....this is making me nuts anyone else have this happen and fix it? Do i need to send it off to someone who works on Savage pistols if there is such a person......thanks in advance.
