Model 10 front action screw with hs stock. Need help

I have a model 10 that I was installing an hs stock on. My torque wrench hit the recommended 65 lbs and promptly stripped the hex head. I was able to get the screw out but am wondering if someone can tell me which size screw this is and if a hardware store might carry it. Midway states there out of stock. It's 3/4 inch long. Thank you in advance

The action screws are ¼-28 thread. I hope your 65 lbs was INCH pounds and not FOOT pounds!

Your local ace hardware has buckets of them and the deeper allen head of a "standard" alen head bolt is much stronger than the cutesy little shallow head "OEM" bolt. After stripping one and then breaking one.........I replace them right of the bat as a matter of standard procedure.

Another idea (I have done this for the same reason) is change to Torx head screws. Far more torque bearing surface. You would be very hard pressed to strip out one of them.

I bought a bag of 100 at Ace hardware and they come in handy.

Ive been trying to find the right type of screw to fit in mine and the only ones i keep finding that are the correct tpi are those dumb cap socket ones that are like giant versions of the ones used for rail mounts and scope rings.

    https://www.boltdepot.com/Socket_but...sh_1_4-28.aspx

...or if you want stainless https://www.boltdepot.com/Socket_but...-8_1_4-28.aspx

Order the 1-1/2" or 2" then cut them to length.
