    What to torque rings/bases to?

I have a savage 110 action (savage 220 slug gun), a DNZ mount (aluminum), and a vortex diamondback hp scope.

DNZ recommended anywhere from 25-35 in/lbs for their rings but wot comment on the base screws.

Vortex said do not exceed 20 in/lbs for scope rings

So given all these variables, what should I torque rings to and what should I torque the base to?

Also, should I vibra-tite rings and base or just one or the other?

    Thanks for any help.

20-25 inch #s for bases is more than enough. Be sure to use some blue loc-tite (non-hardening type).

If the rings are true 25 inch #s isn't going to hurt the Vortex (and should be plenty to keep the scope where you put it).

    Again.... use the blue loc-tite.

I would not know as I've never used that product. I can tell you the blue loc-tite works great...

If you do not have any blue loc-tite, it would do in a pinch. The loc-tite product will work better as it as a longer set time which will give you a better window of adjustment, not to mention that nail-polish is fragile.

I usually do 15 in-lbs for aluminum fixtures and 20 for steel, but that's just what I was taught.
