    Howdy from Ga

Hello from Georgia. Didn't know there was a forum for savage guns, but better late than never. Got a model 110 FP (the old one) chambered in 300 win mag. Heavy barrel but light, and boy does it have some recoil to it. I recently got into long distance shooting and it's the most fun I've had shooting yet.

Welcome Neighbor. Glad you're having fun out at Gunsite Hills. Chief has immense knowledge but can be a little squirrely/unpredictable from day to day though.
A good wife and a steady job has ruined many a great hunter.

looking at adding a clamp on muzzle brake from witt machine. Other option is to have the barrel threaded. I'm in the process of building a new rifle starting with a Savage 12 lrp in 6.5cm. So my money is going to that project.

Thanks for the lead on Witt Machine's clamp on muzzle brakes. Looks like a winner. Please report back if you get one. I have a 30-06 that I'd love to tame for use with heavy bullets.

I agree chief is a wealth of knowledge. Not many people can claim to have been trained by carlos hathcock. And he can be a little finicky sometimes but I'd be the same way with a long distance range on my personal property.
