Loving my 10FLCP-K... shoots the 155 A-Max great!

I've been working up hand loads for my new rifle. I'm measuring muzzle velocity at 12 feet, using a ProChrono digital. I was shooting both 168 SMK's and 155 A-Max's .010 off the lands at 100 yards.

Here's where I ended up (Varget, Federal 215M, Winchester & Hornady Brass):

SMK's w/45 grain = 2742 fps
A-Max's w/47 grains = 2943 fps

I wasn't all out shooting for accuracy, because I was focused on load development. However, I couldn't help but notice the small group of the last 3 A-Max rounds. I shot. Even though they were +/- .1 grain the group was under .308 with slight horizontal dispersion... wow!

Brass looks good and primers show slight flattening. I'm seeing a bit more of a ridge on primer around firing pin strike. The edge of the primer is still rounded and well defined. I'm still well under the max load specified by Lyman's 49th and yet I've exceed max velocity. I'm going to stop here and work up 10 rounds each at these load levels and shoot at 200 yards.

Rifle is better than I hoped. The A-Max really surprised me. The ProChrono has not given me a single error in 5 outings. Very happy with it's performance too.

Sounds good! would be interesting to see how those 155's do at 500 or so. I was under the impression that the twist rate on the FCP's was a bit too steep for such a light bullet. My FCP-K likes the 168's up to about 400. They do OK to 500, but at 500 I MUCH prefer the 175SMK's.
I've been doing only match ammo up to now(hornady 168's, and Buffalobore with 175SMK's), but I have 45 hand loads of various powder weights and case lengths that I can't wait to try... Hottest load is 45.0gr Varget, 2.805COL, CCI primers, 168SMK's, and hornady form-fired brass. I hope it is the one that works best because I did 20 rounds

bodywerks - I think it depends on the rifle. I wanted to try the A-Max 155&#39;s to see what would happen. There&#39;s no doubt my rifle is completely stabilizing these bullets < 100 yards, but it will be interesting to see what they do at longer ranges. FWIW - I have a Remington 788 that I&#39;ve owned for 30+ years. All I ever shoot is 150 grain Core-Lokts. It&#39;s a 1:10 22" barrel and it&#39;s extremely accurate - go figure.

It seems to only be relavant in Canada. Go figure. :D
