    Headspace or Extraction Issue?

I have a savage 116 that was chambered in 300wsm, it down right hurts to shoot. so I put a 300 blackout barrel on it. now my problem is that a have a bolt from a stevens 200 that was .223, I set my barrel up with go no go gauges and it seemed to be ok. But I chambered a dummy round and the bolt wont pull the round out.(I already pulled the extractor from the controlled feed set up out, so that's not it) the bolt bodies for the 300wsm and the 223 are the same length but the 223 head is a bit shorter. what should I do? any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Did you set the headspace with the 223 bolthead? If so i would think there is another problem you have not addressed or headspace was not set correctly.

I head spaced with the complete 223 bolt. I used pacific tool and gauge go no goes, is there a special procedure for them? this is my first build so I may have messed up somewhere.

I guess it would be an extraction issue.

If you set head space with extractor in the bolt head,it may be that the rim of the gauge was not under extractor. Check with no go, being sure extractor is over rim, or remove extractor & check. If bolt closes on no go, head space needs reset.

Do you have the bullet seated way out on your dummy round? If so, it could be that it's getting jammed into the lands hard enough that it's pulling the case head out of the extractor when you open the bolt.
