Please help me find a savage DBM 223 mag

I now have everything I need for my next build minus a magazine and stock, which is in the works. I have been looking high and low for a savage centerfeed DBM for a 223 and can't find one. If anyone knows where I can locate one I would greatly appreciate the help.

    2 questions:

1: are you using the "metal" factory bottom metal?

2: are you converting from say a 308 sized round that was already a DBM? or do you already have another SA DBM magazine?

I am using factory bottom metal. Yes this was a conversion. The rifle was originally a 22-250.

I have a HS Precision stock off a .223 12 Long Range Precision DBM with bottom metal, trigger guard and mag I'm going to be listing. All the metal is silver. Not sure if that would work for you.

Ok, I think I originally misunderstood. I thought you were converting a 22-250 DBM setup over to a 223 DBM setup, but it sounds like you're taking a Blind mag 22-250 and converting to 223 DBM so my thought I was going to throw out won't be of any help to you. Sorry.

    Good luck in your search.

I am converting a savage model 11 sa cf DBM 22-250 to a 223AI DBM. I have already swapped the bolt head and I have the factory bottom metal. I have a cbi barrel and all the necessary parts I need minus a stock and a 223 DBM. I have looked everywhere and nobody has them in stock. I have searched high and low on numerous forums over the past few months as well.

All you need is the a complete cf 223 mag. Pull the bottom off the mag you have now and you are in business.

I am not sure I understand this? My 22-250 mag is too big for a 223.

You need the 223 mag not the whole dbm. the bottom part of your 22-250 dbm will come off and goes on the 223 mag box and you are good to go. you just need the internal mag and follower without the L clip.

I have never had an L clip nor do I need one. This rifle started out as a 22-250 detachable box magazine. I am converting it to a 223 detachable box magazine. I need an entire magazine. I am building a detachable magazine rifle, not a blind mag.

Worse comes to worse call savage and talk to customer service. Give them your serial # and tell them you need a magazine for a 223 that will fit. try this

Well i may do this but when I give them my serial number it's going to show up as a 22-250 and not a 223. This seems to confuse everyone I talk to for some reason.

The magazine body is the same. the bottom of the magazine comes off and snaps on the new mag body. Do you have the metal bottom on your magazine or the plastic bottom? I am talking the magazine not the bottom metal that goes on the stock.

Oh I see the link now. Yes this will work. I don't need the camo but that's not an issue. I can either sway my 22-250 bottom plate or just rattle can it black. Thanks for the link.

romad, The centerfeed DBM's use the blind mag body and follower. They just snap the bottom plate onto the blind mag to make a DBM. All you need is the 223 blind magazine and follower and snap those on the bottom plate you already have. When they are used in a blind mag setup they put the "L" clip on to hold it in the stock. When used as a DBM they just snap on the bottom plate.

The 223 and 22-250 (along with all the other Short Action DBM's) use the same bottom plate. The 223 mag has a shorter follower and a spacer built into the rear of the mag body to shorten it for the 223 sized rounds.

All you need is the mag body and follower for a blind mag and snap it on your DBM bottom plate and you are set to go. This is where I was going to steer you earlier.

Ok I understand what you guys are saying now. I actually have 2 of the bottom pieces that go to magazine bodies from a couple of rifles that I turned into blind mags. I guess my next question would be where can I find a mag box and follower then and is it cheaper that way?

If you can find one it should be cheaper. Just call Savage and ask. Don't be afraid to tell them what you need. You need a centerfeed 223 magazine body with follower for the model 10.

Normally yes, much cheaper. I don't think I have one for the CF or I'd help out, only one I have is SF and its going to be in use before to long. If I see one pop up someplace I'll post a link or something here.
