Can we start planning now??? It's cold as heck out today and all I can think about is sitting at a bench on a warm spring day burning some powder!!!

I need a shooting get together. Been a long time since I have seen you all. Let's have some fun.

There is a 1000 yard range out by Ridgway, PA. What type of shootout are we talking? My 110 FCP-K .308 and my 110 .338 edge would love to get together! Haha!

I belong to the Ridgway club. As a facility it cant be beat, i think about 40 benches. Not sure about policy as for private groups using it.
You can see the range by going to the website.

2yrs ago I contacted new holland and they wanted $500 to rent the range for a private event.

Feel free to give them a call to see if it's the same. If we can get enough guys to commit up front and pay up front I am ok with that.

Even if nobody else would want to, I am going to go up to the Ridgway Range this summer. It's under an hour from me. The New Holland range would be about a 4 hour drive...I also have a farm that I shoot at with live targets (red tags!) at about 800-1200 yards.

Farmers get red tags for Deer. If they do have red tags, and they give some to you, then you can legally hunt deer on their property at any time. Farmers that grow a lot of soy beans are the best guys to make friends with! Have them get red tags from the game commission and they can have you hunt all the deer on their land because of crop damage.

Have the elk made it that far west yet?
I know the farmers in the Dubois area arent worried about red tags on those.
They just call the warden and say come get your elk.

We don't have Elk out this way yet... Farmers are allowed to shoot the deer out here for crop damage at any given time. The nice thing about the red tags is that I can go hunt and keep the animal instead of having to turn it is to the game commission. here is a site that sort of explains the rules. Red tags only apply to whitetail deer (that I know of), and only apply to antlerless deer.

Just checked new holland gun clubs website and they now charge $1000/day to rent the 600yd range! Pretty steep but would be $50/shooter if we had 20 committed members.

I threw it out there in my last post to see how many members would commit and pay the $50 minimum each(dependent on head count)..... So far we have 2.... You and me

Part of the problem is that Pa is a large state. And the only places to shoot any real type of long range
are considerable distances from many of those who would be interested. Ridgeway for example would be
a five to six hour drive one way from n/e Philly. So it would require a weekend not a day. Even the central
part of the state would be difficult for a one day outing. The 1000 yd range known as Williamsport is actually
about 20 miles north on rt 14 near a place called Bodines. The property is privatly owned and leased to the Williamsport club.
Im fairly certain other groups use those facilities also. The property is owned by the Plant family who live on the property.
It is simply a 1000 yd range however and there are no provisions for shooting closer distances. Im not sure if temporary
targets would be permissable even if it were available. Membership at Ridgway is $50 initialy and $35 per year thereafter.
You can use the facilities all day every day except on those days matches are being held. Just go shoot and take a guest if you like.

I'm in with another member for New Holland or Williamsport. So that's a 2 person vote.
