    Savage polish project


    Thought I would give my f-class savage 12 a bit of a polish up and post the results
    This is the factory finishand this is the bolt and action so far.

    If you could get the inside of my barrel that shiny, I'd give you a dollar...

    Really though, getting a polish like that and keeping sharp edges is no easy feat, great job.

    Ooohhhh, polish as in shine it up.

    I thought maybe you were going to paint it the colors of the flag of Poland.

    Looks great just the same. Nicely done.

    I'm guessing polishing media and buffer wheel?

    Only used the buffer wheel for a final polish. The bolt handle was cast, it had cast lines and pits etc so I started with a stone dremel attatchment there. Then just good old sandpaper on a block. Started at 320 grit and went 400,600,800,1200 Then the buffer wheel. If you started with a buffer wheel and coarse compound you would definitely round off you edges which noone wants.

    Barrel, barrel nut and recoil lug done and assembled
    While it was in the lathe gave it a new 11 degree target crown
