Use the edge of a bench. With the bolt face down, and the "pin" on the edge of the bench, push down and rotate the bolt body and it should push it back into the cocked position.
Hello,
First time Savage owner and I just bought a 111 Trophy Hunter XP. The problem I'm having is that the bolt came with the firing pin out and the retaining pin (I'll call it) in the wrong position. This prevents me from closing the bolt. From everything I've seen the pin should be in the down position #2. I searched online and in the forum but can't find anything referencing this issue or how to correct it. The only idea I have so far is to partially disassemble the bolt, reposition the pin and re-assemble. If anyone can offer an easier solution it would be greatly appreciated. Maybe I'm missing something simple, if so I apologize in advance. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

to recock the bolt, put the cocking pin on a corner of a table an push down
