    .416 Muzzleloader

Here is a picture of my Savage Smokeless Muzzleloader:
Savage Target Action w/ Rifle Basix Trigger
McGowen .416 1-10 twist 1.25" at breech and 1" at the brake 30-1/2" from the recoil lug the the threads for the brake.
    H&S Precision stock
    Ken Farrell 30 MOA base
    NightForce 5.5-22X56 NXS scope

This was at 100 yards with a 350 grain bullet at 2760 ft/sec.
I have since change powr and should be in the 2900 to 3000 ft/sec range with the 350 grain bullets.

That is awesome! I have been debating one of these for years. What powder are you using?

Are you using Jacketed bullets right to the lands, or a sabot, or ???

And how are you loading that thru the brake?

Very cool. Live in a rifle zone by 3.5 miles. There is no doubt we'll see the light when they push the line farther north. Gotta admit thats just screamin shoot me!

I am full form sizing the bullets so the rifling is engraved into them. I shoot 340 Cutting Edge bullets that have a BC of .780 and a Rocky Mountain 350 MH .
I am using H4831SC and H1000 powder in it around 120 to 130 grains.

209 bolt head or different ignition?

    Looks and shoots great!

I am still curious how you load that thing thru the brake?

Special bullet holder so you can get it thru the brake and line the full formed bullet up to the rifling. Some take the brake off to load also.

Ahhhh. Makes sense if there is a special holder. Taking the brake off would get tiresome while developing a load, .

Thanks, am just picking up info the near future.

OK that thing is sweet!! I would love to build something similar but not that extreme. Thinking of doing a 45 cal or 50 cal loader off a Stevens.

45 cal. Is all that is needed for anything in North America. If you decide to have something built or build one yourself check out Arrowhead Sporting Goods he carry's pretty much everything but the action to build one.
