    16 inch barrel and .223


    What m.v. can i get with a 50 gr. V max out of 16 inch barrel? And what powder should i look at.
    1 in 9 twist
    .223 chamber,,
    I know accuracy kills not speed.. but it helps lol

    They started at 26" and cut the barrel down inch by inch and recorded velocity at each

    fast burn rate powder for caliber, there will be less of a ball of flame (I've noticed this)

    As to Powder I'd go 1st with 748 then maybe 4198. They both burn very fast are known to be accurate in .223 and should yield close to max velocity in a 16 in. bbl...... The 748 is a ball powder and meters well but may cause a fire ball.... 4198 is very accuate but is a stick powder that requires trickling.
