Does it hurt to leave a 99F cocked?

I have a Savage 99 F in 308 with the tang safety, and was wondering if it hurts to leave the gun cocked or dry fire?
As far as I know, it can not be decocked like the older models.

Won't hurt a thing. If you're worried about the spring, they don't lose their tension from compression but from use, being compressed and de-compressed.

I certainly hope it does not hurt to leave them "cocked". I leave my 93 cocked because I don't want to dry-fire a rim fire gun.

Go to a auto museum where the vehicles have been setting for years. If spring compression weakened them they would be setting on their frames. BTW, you don't have to dry fire, just pull the trigger and slowly lower the bolt. The cocking piece will follow the cocking ramp allowing the pin to gently bottom out. The other option, use snap caps.
