    cracked Boyd's stock

went to try my rifle sunday with my new boyd's stock.
i was disapointed in the accuracy. this rifle ( savage 16) easily groups moa with the original plastic stock and this load
i was getting fliers that brought the groups to 2.5 to 3''

when i got back home i removed the stock and noticed the stock was cracked here

i am wondering if this is what cause my accuracy problem?
and if pillar bedding would repair the stock?

looks like i tightened the action screw to much. i'm used to rifles with pillar, when tightening this it always felt mushy

A crack like that would definitely cause accuracy problems.

Way to much torque on the screws there pal. Pillars may help but that's a bad spot for a crack.

I'd get me some Acraglass (original), glue the stock. Then I would install pillars using Acraglass (original), shouldnt have any more problems.
That's enough unsolicited advice for now.

Mine did the exact same thing... Dremelled out a lot more of the wood deep and all around and then inserted cut-down drywall screws cross-wise and some heavy duty staples from a cardboard box into the Acraglass. Has not been a problem since. Others here have reported the same problem. I'm not gonna gripe. It's an inexpensive stock and an easy fix.

Oh, BTW, my "fix" does require pillars, but I always do that, anyhow.

Also, as olddav said, go with Acraglass. I usually bed with Devcon 10110, but that kept cracking. It didn't hold 'till I used Acraglass on the stock and then topped it (finished the bedding) with Devcon 10110.
