    New Member With Savage Pics

This is my introductory post. I’m in the process of learning to navigate around this website. I have attached (I hope) a few photos of me doing my thing with a couple of my favorite Savage shooters. I’m not a big talker so I’ll let the photos provide you with the details.

My favorite place in the world.

In the middle of nowhere, Montana.

Nice; very nice indeed! Don't need a lot of words; they just tend to clutter the landscape!

Yep, that’s a Model 12 VLP. My gunsmith installed the Hart barrel without the nut. He feels he can do a better job without it. Arnold Erhardt is a Benchrest competitor and a highly regarded gunsmith in my area. When he offers advice I go with it.

Stock on the VLP is a Tacticool?

At the risk of appearing out of touch, I admit I had to look up the term “tacticool”. According to the Urban Dictionary, my stock is definitely not tacticool. It is the factory original stock that was on the rifle when I bought it new in 2005.

Great photos! I sure wish I had someplace like that to shoot.

Looking at the stock more it does not have the "hump" on the buttstock of a Boyd's "Tacticool" replacement stock t as referring to. Never the less I do like the rifle and it's stock.

It is a great place. It was designed and built for Benchrest competition. The Prickly Pear Sportsman’s Association range is located near the continental divide on national forest land west of Helena Montana http://www.ppsamt.org/. Some call it the best little shooting range in the Rocky Mountains.

A view of the 200/300 yard firing line with 12 covered benches.

A view of the 200 and 300 yard berms. The steel gongs are a lot of fun. They range from about 10 to 2 inches in diameter.

Mule deer will wander onto the range while you are shooting. I am taking a break while a deer feeds on the left edge of the 200 yard berm. Elk, moose, and bear also visit the range.

Built on a mountain side at 6,000 feet above sea level the range looks like this about five months out of the year. Considering the annual membership dues are $40 I don’t complain.
