If you are bedding it properly around the lug, and action engagement areas, you shouldn't be causing any issues with the magazine, and should be free to change it at will. Remember to keep the rear tang free floating.
To decrease the different amoun ts of ammo I have to keep on hand and for ease of reloading, I am planning on going all 30 cal.
I already have a 300 blk, a 308 in a Mauser, a 111 staggerfeed in 30-06 and would like to add the 300WM to round out the stable.
I can use the 220 SMKs (subsonic) and the 147's (supers) from the 300 BLK in both the '06 and the 300WM. I could even throw in a 308 win barrel, add a 180 grnr's, use them in all 4 rifles as well. I could keep just 6 different bullets on hand (3 for hunting and 3 for paper) in 3 weights and have just about the whole enchalada.
Here's the only sticking point. If I want to switch back and forth with the 300WM then my box mag will have to be changed (along with the bolt head and follower of course)
So how can I bed this "wunderrifle" for max accuracy with two different mag boxes?

204, 22 K-Hornet, 222, 223, 22-250, 22-250AI, 6BR, 243, 243AI, 6-06, 6-WSM, 250-3000AI, 270, 7-08, 7RM, 30BR, 308, 30-06, 375 H&H, 444 Marlin, 450BM, 458WM
So I should just open up the inletting for the larger mag box and fill the cutout with putty when I bed it?
Mag box for the 30-06 and the 300WM are basically the same size. Here check out the link below and you can get a good look at the magazines.

Big difference in the mags is the feeding lips.

Plus you can always keep an extra bolt just for the WM.
