Well I've stumbled into a striker pistol in .22WMRF. Was at a gun show and made a trade. I'm in it $300. I've got plenty of ammo laying around.
It came with a 1.5x pistol scope.
I replaced that with a 6.5-20x40 Redhead Epic Rifle scope I had laying around.
I also mounted sling swivels for bipod and sling.
I took the travel out of the trigger. It had a standard adjustment screw set for that.
My questions:
How did I do getting in to it?
Who else owns and shoots theirs?
Who else runs a rifle scope? Its only a RF...cmon!
What's the object mounted on the underside of the barrel in the stock? It apears to be a primary recoil lug. I've never seen one on a barrel shank. The action appears to be able to be dropped into a aftermarket stock system like boyds if I want to create a PG set up from one of the thumb hole stocks, and replace the trigger.
More soon when I get it out and stretch its legs.

Interesting to say the least. You don't hear too much on here about the rimfire Strikers, so I am curious to see your results. There is a LGS that has the same one in 22LR here that's been in their case for over a year and I think they have a $325 sticker on it. If 22LR was more plentiful I am betting it would be gone already.

I may have to, but I have always been more of a centerfire guy. Now that I have a 516 centerfire striker, one in 22LR would go with it well.

A few years ago I had a Striker in .17HMR quite a lot of fun actually although it was particular about the ammo it liked.
These have the older style non-adjustable Savage rimfire triggers which are the worst triggers in the world. You can checkout Rimfire Central to see a trick for shimming the trigger assembly.
Hmmm. Wonder if mine has a fix already applied... After I took the travel out of the trigger by turning the adjustment screw, it breaks clean at 4-5lbs..... Off to go look at RFC

I got out and shot it. Good results. Still getting used to its unique aspects.

These first groups were slow fire at 10x benched. The last group was 6x free hand tight sling fast fire. I'm happy with it.
It prefers the 40 grain Winchester super X
Not bad for a 7.5 in barrel.
Groups will get smaller. I read about the shim I can put in to lighten the trigger pull... I might do that before I buy the custom trigger.

Ignore the 308 hit and the low hits on the first pic. Those were other targets I didn't crop well enuf.

I was also told about using marlin mags. Then just milling the receiver magazine inlet to accept their longer length.... That's doable

I was about to perform the " Shim" fix on my rimfire savage striker. I took the trigger group out. I stoned the sear face and lever contact surfaces, then I started looking at the engagement spring.
I had a AR15 LPG kit in my smithing tackle box, and realized the bolt catch spring was the same diamiter but shorter.
I put it in. Took the travel take up screw all the way down to the keeper bolt, and reassembled.
Perfect 3.2 lb trigger with no shim.
Made a specific title discussion out of it.

This weekend I was at the Allen. Gun show, first table with used guns on it had a little 5 round mag layin there.... I asked if it was savage? He don't know. He wanted $15 I offered $10 - I now have second magazine for my striker!

For those who may not know, Strikers use Mark II & Model 93 rifle magazines.
The .22 WMRF mags for model 93, are red plastic follower. That follower is a bit rakish on the last round out. It's a hard angle because its also for the 17hmr. The tip of the .22mag HP projectile can hang on the top face of the chamber. The original older metal followers don't do that. It's a simple fix. Just remove the red plastic peak, to be just above the feed lips. Then it feeds the last round flush. This is only on the .22 Wmr/17hmr mags used in a striker. Your experience may differ.
The older metal follower mags are from before 17hmr, and those 5 rd metal follower mags with a crease on the end cap feed .22mag totally perfectly.
