they do not come with the rifle only. If you buy a package rifle then you get the rifle with the scope/ bases attached.
Do they come with a new rifle or do you have to buy them? Looking at getting a new HB and I am pricing everything right now.

Gumbo is correct, but the Heavy Barrel Axis models do not offer you the option to include a scope/base combination. Presently I use the EGW 0 Mount which I have been very happy with

but others also use the Weaver which is a little less exspensive

And DNZ which costs a little more, but if you don't have a lot of experience mounting scopes the one piece mount sure seems to help with making sure it aligns correctly.

Enjoy your new rifle!! And let us know how she shoots!!
AXIS 7mm-08 , 22-250
Well I ordered a new HB in 223 @ $301 shipped. Dealer charges $15. I ordered the Weaver base, a die set and 500 50gr Z-max bullets. I still have about 300 rounds of old hand loads I had for my ar15. So I will be able to go shoot right away.
My two Axis rifles came with 2-piece Weaver bases, but the length of the receiver made it darned hard to get a scope to fit. One-piece Weavers solved that.
Good choice, probably going to be my next rifle as well. Where did you find that for $301.00?
AXIS 7mm-08 , 22-250
CTD I know a lot of people will not buy from them, but whatever.
Anyone know what the twist is on these?
I was going to say 1:9 then I decided I should go and check the website to be sure, and apparently twist rate is Non-applicable to the Axis HB!! :)
AXIS 7mm-08 , 22-250
Seen that.
Called Savage and the .223 is 1:9 and the 22-250 is 1:12.
Sweet, thanks. For the 50-55gr I actually like a 1-12 twist but this will work. You can get more speed out of the 12 twist than the 9's.
No problem let us know how she shoots.
i'm using a EGW 0 MOA scope base on my Axis .308 and it works very well but have been thinking of swapping over to a EGW 20 MOA base
I have the egw 0moa as well. Fit great and so far have been happy. Also found it on sale for under $30.
Just to be different am going with Burris Tactical 2pc extended steel bases with zee signature rings. Will be interesting to see if they have enough reach.
I like the cheap weaver rails the keep scopes nice and low.
EGW are great on blind magwells.
I really like the 2 piece steel Burris bases also, if your scope is long enough. But I know many shooters favor a 1 piece base. The shorter Nikon scopes may need a 1 piece base.
