Here are a few threads that might shed some light on your stock dilemma.

Looks as if a few members ordered Choate Tactical and in at least one case they were able to drop the barreled action directly in and it worked without issue. Hope this helps!!

Could you post pics of the trigger area. Thinking about a VT purchase and would like a metal trigger guard.
Thanks in advance
Mike
I will get you some pics up. I am still using the Model 11 trigger gaurd, it has the bottom bolt release. I am not 100% sure but I think you would need the Model 10 PC trigger gaurd and bolt release I believe it is metal. Other wise you would need to convert your action to a top/side release, to use the basic metal trigger gaurd this also can be done by getting the parts from Savage. I did have to do some minor inletting on the stock to get the rear of the trigger and the bolt release to clear, but it was very minor.
I replaced all the plastic bottom metal with savage metal parts and put all of it in a Choate stock. Worked well with bottom bolt release.
Thanks for the 10 PC tip and posting those pics in the near future.

Thanks to you as well. Possible that you share your source, part# and prices? I may be asking to much of you,but some photos of your rifle's trigger area would be great.

Here is the serial # I used to order the parts and the part numbers(bottom bolt release) I used the #s from the 10FCP listed and would like to thank cron for posting that info, VERY HELPFUL.
My original stock inlet.
New stock and parts.
I hope this info helps.
This forum was a BIG help in my savage 260 build.
Of course I have to show what that work can do now

Thanks for the pics/info. Looks like all fitted nicely.
I would like to covert a VT11 to a blind box,add metal trigger guard and mount to a B&C stock. Still looking to see if that can be done, by a DYIer. If not, I going to go the route you went.
I would fill the side sling depressions with epoxy, sand and spray paint. I really don't like those side slings.
Steelhead thanks for your time and efforts, your next project may include cleaning those fingernails, if those in the photo are yours
