New member / new build *updated pics page 2*

Picked up this savage 10fcp-k a few months ago. Threw some parts at it with the plan of doing a budget build. I think it turned out great. This is my first long range toy and I am working up a load currently but Specs as follows.

    Savage Fcp-k .308
    Accustock duracoated coyote tan (DIY)
    Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50
    Vortex bubble level
    Leupold med rings
    EGW 20 Moa base (bedded)
    Dark eagle 10rd mag
    Harris bipod
    Tactical works cheek pad
    Polished bolt
    Glades armory bolt handle
    Lapped rings and action
Bedded action even though it wasn't needed
Filled buttstock with lead shot and sand
    Skateboard grip tape on stock

So far this is my 3 rd group at 100yrds and I've been ringing steel at 1080 so far with plans to push it farther soon.

    Job well done!
I got the same results with my model K and the factory stock. only reason I replaced the stock on mine was because... I "could"...didnt need to but I did.....
    Your rig looks Great!
really like what you did to the lower section of the stock......well done!
another model K serving up humble pie........

Thanks , already pulled off the grip tape. It was so coarse it was tearing my hands up. I'll do some different grip material more rubber like this time.

Nice looking setup. What type of load are you using in your savage? I just recently acquired a savage axis that I want to build up for long rang shooting myself.

oh man....thats what put the "look" to your rig. I can see how it would be abrasive though.
I ended up putting a choate tatical on mine. The palm swell is better suited to my hands.

I ordered some other grip material that will still give the "look" without discomfort. I thought of doing marinetex but it looks pretty messy and a pain in the ass.

Doesnt suprise me to see that factory stock work as its intended. More often than not, they get bashed and bad mouth,d. The 3 point aluminum bedding block is imo well designed.
Do you get any muzzle jump from the brk?

Oh yea! Before I added all the weight to the stock it was almost impossible to see impact with all the jump. Adding the weight really decreased jump and recoil felt as well as working on technique and it is very minimal now.

I had looked to get a choate stock but felt this was was more than adequate and figured I would work with what I have first.

    roger that
I was running some pretty tart loads with 175s when I 1st purchased my K model and was getting excellant results but the muzzle jump was noticeable even with the choate stock. I eventually found same consistant accuracy at slower speeds which cured the climb and felt recoil. Id like to eventually get another Bennie Collie (s-ck) brk for my K model. I have one on my 10 fcp-hs and its ported to control climb. For now, its working great and just cant see me spending the $ for something thats not broken.

Tell me more about the bolt handle. I have the standard 10FCP McMillan and HATE that big bulb bolt knob.
How well does the Glades bolt handle fit?
Any messing with your stock or fitting issues?
Your bolt handle/knob looks exactly like what I'm looking for.

Bolted right up and didn't have to trim the stock at all. Great product and highly recommended.

Great to know! I'm kinda torn between the Glades bolt handle and the Savage 110BA bolt handle for my Savage 10FCP.

It's tough to tell by your pics, but it looks like the Glades Bolt Handle was made for a flat back receiver, not a round one?
