Nice job! Hunting hogs is a lot of fun!
I was out this morning trying to locate a large feral hog that I had shot a bit earlier. I knew I had thumped her pretty solidly, and she'd left a blood trail that I was able to follow fairly easily. The trail led me into a "blind canyon." Being a certified coward, I went back and got my .45ACP carbine before venturing into the canyon, just in case the old girl still had some fight in her. I found her, "stone dead", in a mesquite thicket. As I circled her to make sure she really was as dead as I wanted her to be, I kicked up a nest of piglets. Must have been 20 of them! After I recovered from my initial surprise, shock and fright, I began picking them off, one by one, until they exited the canyon. I only got 7 of them; ranges varied from point blank to about 50 yards. I dragged them out into the open, went back to collect the sow, and she was gone! No blood trail; just disappeared! I walked the whole canyon again, (on high alert, I must add!) but never found a trace of her. I just may be getting too old for this kind of fun!!

Wow! Can't imagine how fun that was!
Lots of fun there! Love killin hogs
It was fun, but being knee-deep in pigs, with them running in all directions (including right at you! They weren't charging me, they were confused and panic stricken.), is almost more fun than I can handle!
Great shoot in'. Can we get some details about your rifle? What kind of carbine is that? Were you using fmj's or hollow points? Thanks
DennisPA, it's a HiPoint carbine with an ATN Red Dot scope on it. I hand load 230 grain Speer HP's with the maximum safe load of Unique and a CCI military rifle primer. If my game cameras show some large hogs visiting the area, I'll load up with 225 grain cast bullets so I can get some serious penetration and bone breaking on the big guys.
I always wanted a good excuse to say this......
Nice Shootin TEX
A good wife and a steady job has ruined many a great hunter.
