    model h shooting high

I have a 30/30 that is shooting 8 inches high at 25 yards. If I file down the top of the rear sight and lower the back sight groove will that work or does anyone have a better idea. Both sights are originalto the gun.

If the sights were original to the gun then you shouldn't have to file anything down at all. I think one or the other or maybe even both have been swapped out at one time.

late reply i know, yes going lower with the back sight will make it shoot lower. but what you really need to do is get a taller front sight. i used a front sight from an EG on my barrel band carbine. it had the origional sights and it shot high also. that fixed the problem.
