    Apache Gunworks 223AI

I recently ordered a 223AI barrel from Jim at Apache and figured I would post the results. I made my first trip to the range the other day, and I couldn't have been any happier! All groups were under 3/4'' at 100 yards with many of them under a half inch, with the smallest being .265'' (with zero load development!). Jim was quick answering my emails, was knowledgeable, and got me my barrel quickly and for a good price. Thanks!

Glad to hear about another happy customer from Apache. I have had my last 4 barrels built by Jim and couldn't be happier so far. Great work, great prices, pretty quick turn around, and all mine so far have shot great. What's not to like?

Glad to hear your's is doing so well.

Cranebird, trust me, when it makes it to your door you will be happy.

They who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

out of curiosity what dies do you plan on or are already using? Been thinking about doing this one day but it'll probably be on my MVP provided they'll feed out of AR mags.

If your intention would be to use 75gr VLD/Amax or 80gr Bergers/Amax/VLD, AR mag length is far too restrictive to OAL.

If you want to use a mag-length friendly bullet like a 69-77 or lighter, then rock on.

I'd only be using mid 70's, my 700 shot them well. I don't see a need to go much heavier since I have 308 that I plan on learning to shoot the longer distances

Sorry I have been off for a couple days. But could you seat the 77gr bullets to ar15 magazine length with good results?

80 gr Amax fly extremely well when pushed by the 223 AI case. A grand is easy with this bullet and the AI case.

    Sure does...2950fps with 24.9gr 8208XBR from a 22" tube.

Just gotta get Hornady to start making the 80s again!
