    260 light varmint 20"

I am looking for a 260 rem light varmint. I don't want to buy a longer barrel and cut it off. I would like to get the specks of the light varmint in a 20" barrel. Please point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Call Jim at Apache Gunworks, he will make you a barrel any way you want it and he does terrific work. I have heard is going to be caught up on his list and start taking orders again end of the month, so be ready to get you name on his short list. He does this to eliminate the long 2mo or more waits of most of the barrel makers. Helps get your barrel quick.

Also you can try Jim Briggs at NSS, he sells CBI, Shilen, and a few other prefits. Great Guy.

Also Devin at www.sin-arms.com is good to go.

Gunshack periodically has McGowen 20" "varmint contour" barrels in 260 that measure about 0.800" at the muzzle...which is the same as a Criterion Light Varmint contour @ 20".

I just got a .260 barrel from Jim at Apache and I would/will buy from him again. He turned around my barrel order in a month+/- , quality was great and accuracy was top notch 1/2"+/-

Apache Gun Works seems to get a lot of appraises, which is a great. I'm having Jim re-chamber a McGowen barrel to 6.5 SAUM. I've never dealt with Jim, but so far he has pretty great at answering emails and my questions.

I would agree and send Jim an email.

Thanks for all the great info. Looks Like Apache Gun Works is backed up and not taking orders. I will send him an e-mail and see what he can do. Thanks for all the help.

Jim takes about 1 to 1 1/2 months worth of custom orders, and then closes the list until he gets those done. Then he opens the phone lines and starts a new list. This way nobody ends up with a long wait, or a customer getting told "we are 2 months out" and then 2 months comes and goes and the customer is still waiting. He does not want to be like those companies, he wants things done right, built right, and minimal wait for his customers. That being said, when Jim and I talked the other day, he told me that he should be starting a new list sometime at the end of the month.
