Intrroduction

My name is Steve, and I am 57 YO, a teacher, an an outdoorsman. I have lived here in Alaska nearly all my life and will probably die here as well because I love it.

I am in the process of getting an early 60s 99F in .308 (boy mail is slow from Maine to Alaska!) and have been studying up on the 99. I have only owned one other lever gun, a model 94, though I have owned and currently own a variety of bolt action rifles, a few shot guns, and a couple pistols.

I am a shooter and a hunter more than a collector. Firearms I own need to be accurate, practical, and able to stand up to rain, cold, mud, etc. since I hunt moose and caribou and an occasional black bear. I have always wanted a 99 and am anxiously looking forward to getting mine and getting it in shape for my next hunt.

I am glad I found this site, and I am looking forward to interacting with you folks.
