Wasn't with my Savage but rather my "Remage". Brand new Benchmark .308, 1:10 TWO GROOVE barrel.

Distance 300 yards. ( target was re-used, hence the pasters) Center Red/Orange dot is 1" in diameter.

First group of 5 is the upper left. Lower group of 5 was after I adjusted elevation using the ".1 Mil Lever" on my NF 5-25X56 BEAST. Bullet= 175 gr TMK over 43.5 gr Varget in Lapua brass.

Even more rewarding to me was the fact I shot these two groups 14 weeks after Quad Bypass Surgery on the old heart.

.308 12FV converted to DBM in a crappy hacked up Boyd's stock with barrel cut down to 18" with hacksaw....crown finished with shell deburrer. 5 shots of plain old Federal 168 gr Gold Metal Match at 100 yds...

And on a different day another 12FV in .223 with its non-violated barrel shooting 69 gr Sierra Match King reloads...

Cabelas Savage 12FV build .223 1/9 twist factory barrel. Vortex 4×12×40mm diamond back tactical scope. In choate tactical stock. Using 50 gr Vmax with Accurate 2230, low/medium powder load. Brass as neck sized after shot in this rifle prior. First target is at 300 yards and second is 100 yards to confirm scope zero after fitting the rifle in the choate stock. Dots are 1 inch.

Savage lightweight hunter...bone stock, right out of the box with handloads - 220 yds

Savage lightweight hunter 270 win also right out of the box, was also 220 yds and right around .900" if I recall

savage 14 american classic 7-08 with a reduced load I developed for a buddies wife, also stock, 220 yds, should read .424" ctc...not moa

Anyone who says you need a fancy custom rifle to shoot 1/2 moa...hasn't handloaded for a savage!

Found new load from my well worn 243 Shilen barrel (1,400+ rounds of hard use and still shoots nicely, but looks like garbage through the borescope )

( Never mind the POI. Wanted to be a little to the left of the aim point but dialed too much )

Here is a update with that last load I found.

Shot 2 weeks after initial load work up, in different weather (not as cold but still well below freezing). Snow was coming down very hard making the target aim points hard to see at times. But I prevailed !
