    Nikon 3 X 9 Monarch @ 500 yards?

Hello to All. I have a Modell 110 in 30.06 with a Nikon Monarch 3 x 9 scope. What are my chances hitting a steel target at 500 yards? Not sure yet as to the actual dimensions as its my friends target, have not seen it yet. Lets just say can I hit it if it is 10 inches in diameter. Fiocchi 180 grain Exacta Match Ammo ,benchrest of couse, assuming no wind. Mainly its is the 9 power magnification the concerns me. I realize my eyes and the guns accuracy all factor in The rifle will do 1.85 groups at 100 yards. THANX

Your chances are good. As long as you have decent eye sight. Last sat me and a friend where making hits at 400 yards with a AR15 that has a scope with no magnification. Good luck!

I've hit a 10" plate at 500yds with an AR15 and iron sights, position was unsupported prone. you have many advantages! This used to be standard before the Marine Corps started issuing ACOGs

Have your friend sit behind and slightly off to the side of you when you shoot with a spotting scope on a tripod.
He will be able to follow the shot and tell you where to hold. Problem is its addictive. But have fun anyway.

YOUR chances, or the chances of the scope having the adjustment???

That scope should be fine for that close, depending upon how much adjustment you burned to get zero'd. Your eyes, gun, load capabilities may be another question.
I'm a firm believer in the theory that if it bleeds, I can kill it.
