    Help on Savage 112J

    Need some help.
I found an ad for a 112J. Before I take the time to drive all the way
over there, were these single shot only?

    Small shank barrel?

    TIA

    Yes on small shank.

The older 112's were offered as a 112-S (for single shot) and 112-R (for repeater). Later on there were models utilizing the current Savage lettering system like a 112BVSS for example.

I am betting that this seller has a 112 "J-Series" rifle and is calling it a 112J so if that's the case then it could be a repeater or single shot. The thing to watch is the screw spacing. The 4.52" spaced actions are harder to get stocks for and use special length bolt bodies, but otherwise are as good as the other actions of their era.

I may be totally off and there is a 112J that I have never heard about but based off what I have seen and bought I think this is what you are looking at.
