I have a 24" .308 varmint Shaw barrel that is very accurate. I shot a 197-21x , 196-22x, and 195-19x in the 3 last f class match's from last year then put it up for varmint hunting. I also shot the snipers hide cold bore challeng with it and it did great,,,photos of the target are still on there.

I have had experience with 2 ER Shaw barrels. One was a 7mm-08 and the other a 223AI. BOTH BARRELS ARE VERY ACCURATE. They were the savage prefit barrels and the chambers where very clean and precise. The 223AI barrel took a little more to break in completely than th 7mm-08 but after it did they both cleaned very easily.

My last range target w/8 shots, 2 sight in & move my windage and the other 6 were at .350", .223 midwayusa bought 1/14" twist SS barrel.
My second target was .626" w/10 shots, no time between shots.
I got the barrel kit they had on sale last year for $160 and have no complaints!!

Forgot to mention my Shaw cleans up just as good as my Shilen select match. Purchased my SS Shaw kit prefit from Midway USA.

Last week I twisted a new Shaw 223 12T SS 22" varmint I had laying around here for about two years. I threw together a few rounds using new Lapua brass, 52 Bergers seated on the lands, Benchmark and a BR4.

At the range I fired one shot each at 25, 50 and 100 to get it on paper at 100, cleaned then shot six rounds, the clean barrel shot and five.

It coppered a little, not bad though, it cleaned up with three patches and Butch's. I guess with some tuning it might shoot half way decent.

Your nota kiddin Bill,,, A top shooter I know, Tony from P.A. toured the Shaw facility and said that they have top notch equipment. I just got a real good deal on my first lathe that came with all sorts of bits, tools and heads, it can accommodate 30" barrels. Can't wait to experiment on take off barrels, then I'd like to get some Shaw blanks ordered up.

My ER Shaw 260 Rem prefit (thank you Gunshack) was a shooter. I got between 3500 and 4000 rounds through it was too worried about its life. Late in life (Over 3000 rounds) I shot a 5 1/2 Inch group with it at 1100 yds.

ER Shaw is good to go!

I have a varmint .243 Shaw barrel and a 6.5 Creedmoor Magnum Weight one. Here is a target from the Creedmoor and the second is from the .243. It was raining when I shot this creedmoor target, so the target looks like crap...but best I could measure it was .12. Pretty small one hole group anyway. Both of mine shoot really well...many groups under 1/2" moa quite regularly and I'm no benchrest guy, just like to shoot! Both of these were Gunshack group buys and for less than $200 each, I am very pleased.

Teebird, what is your twist rate on the .243? 1:10?
Anyone use the factory contour barrels or just the varmint contour?

I have two Shaw Barrels in .223 that I use for Prairie Dogs. Both are at least as accurate as I can hold from a bench. I wouldn't worry about accuracy or shooting them out.

I have had 4 or 5 Shaw barrels over the years and would not hesitate to buy another , they all have shot good and some great. I still have 2 or3 and one of them is a 243 that shoots very well, and really likes 65 grain V-Max .
