    dry fire?

newbe alert. I did a search, but was unsuccessful in getting my question answered.
Is it ok to dry fire my new axis without a shell in the tube?
    Thanks, John.

It's not good to do it excessively because the firing pin will be over extending with nothing to stop it. I use dummy rounds when I do dry fire practice. Some make their own by seating a bullet in an empty case an putting a pencil eraser in the primer pocket. Just mark them clearly so they aren't confused with live ammunition if you go that route.

Yea, let me clarify that answer. I wouldn't do it 1000 times a day without a spent case or something in there

You know, one day a giant asteroid will hit the earth -- but I wouldn't lie awake tonight, worrying it will happen tomorrow before lunch.

Dryfire your rifle to your heart's content.
