I just replaced the scope on my 16 Trophy Hunter.

I could not find a hex wrench in any hardware store or in my own collection that for he screws holding on the scope ring caps. Finally I dug up the warranty kit that came with the rifle and found that it included a proper sized hex wrench. What friggin size is this thing? These screws are too small for a 3 and too large for a 2.5 on the metric scale.

The screws were a bit rusty, and I'm going to replace them when reusing the rings on my 10/22. Anyone know the spec on these screws? I just need size and length - this information was not included with the warranty kit - hopefully I can find replacements that accept a standard metric hex.

Anyways, when I removed the screws I found a strange tape lining the inside of the rings, which I peeled off (and then used ballistol to remove the residue). Anyone know what this tape material is? I've not seen it before.

Thanks for the help!
