I recently purchased a model 12 sav in 204 cal hb.Came with a boyds stock on it obviously it is blind mag. I saw on sss that they have a hinged floor plate conversion for them. How difficult is this process? what parts will i all need?

If the rifle is a centerfeed, (which it probably is) you could send the stock to SSS and have them inlet for the DBM/HFP hardware. Purchase whatever bottom metal you'd like, and use existing mag box/follower.
SSS could sell you the parts for the HFP.
Or,
You could become a paid member for $12 a year, and purchase the HFP bottom metal that I have listed in the classifieds.
(Shameless plug, )
would the hinged floor plate or detatchable box be better?

Yes. ;D Actually, I have the hinged floor plate on my Model 16 and I do like it. It makes unloading more convenient since you don't have to the unfired rounds through the action and is better than a blind magazine in that regard. It's also a bit more "elegant" if that word can be applied to a Savage 16.Originally Posted by bobcat30
However, if I had it to do over, I think I'd go for the detachable box as it makes both loading and unloading more convenient.
