Stevens 200 action and scope mounting...

    Great board, very informative!
Here's my question. New Stevens 200 SA, mounting 2 piece Warne bases. When I put both bases on, before I even mounted rings, the bases are slightly out of alignment. I have read here that the action is heat treated after the mounting holes are drilled. How should I proceed? Go with what I have and "lap the crap" out of the rings? Buy a Warne one piece, torque it down, then lap if necessary? Call Savage?
    Thanks in advance.......
