Boyds stock for 1899H takedown?

Anybody replaced the stock on their 1899 takedown with a stock from Boyds? Mine is older (1911) and the wood is beat. Wondering if the Boyds product is a good fit. Thanks.

I have the same issue with my 1911.The wood is horrible.Some idiot drilled it,I am going to have it welded up and reblued here in the next year.Mine is 303 sav and shoots real good.I have been looking at their wood but mine is a take down.I get confused looking at all the different types.I hope someone chimes in and says they are good.

The buttstocks should fit either take downs or solid frames, they were all the same, it's the forearms that will be different.

I took my forend off and compared it to the measurements listed on Boyds site and they seem all wrong.

...has forends that seem close. My stock seems like a type III when comparing the distance to the screw, but a type IV when comparing the overall length. Very confusing.

Ya, you can't really go by the train of thought that a Boyds is just gonna fit on when it comes to 99 stocks. The 110's yes but the old 1899's were hand fit remember. They never had a certain spot to make the dovetail under the barrel, sure they were close almost every time but the forearm was added later on and the holes would be drilled to match the gun, they weren't all the same. I'd go with the closest you could get and then fit it to your rifle.

I think I am going to go with a cottage craftworks unfinished forend and butt stock. I was pretty sure I had picked the right one off of their website, then I emailed them and they had me check a couple of measurements to be sure.

Super helpful. Not sure about the quality but I think size will be close. Hopefully not to hard to fit.

I got my stock and I am working it now. To say that the stock is roughed in and will need a little work is an understatement. I am gonna need a belt sander and a dremel to get this thing fit. Probably 5-6 hours of sanding before I start varnish.
