Gents I have a question.I have a model 10 FCPK .308 barrel with the savage muzzle brake still attached. I have since bought a model 111 in 300 Win Mag that I am going to replace the original barrel with a criterion varmint contour that needs a break.looking for opinions on whether or not I can use that original 308 break on this new barrel?

If you really want recoil reduction try a jp tank break,it will feel like a .243.Yes they are ugly to some but to me they are the smartest design to come along since tanks.There are plenty of brake manufaturers and the gill type work the best for me.

I too own a FCP_K and from my expierence with it, it does infact reduced felt recoil but not muzzle climb.
I much prefer a Benny Cooley brk I installed in my 10 FCP-HS.
If it were me?.....Id go with another brk

i had a local smith put a harrels precision (http://www.harrellsprec.com/) on my 7mm mag last year. it's loud as can be, but has hardly any kick anymore.
this might be an option if you wanted another choice (e.g. your barrel has a greater OD than your brake)
