Roller Bearing for Bolt Lift Inprovement?

Somewhere here I read where someone found the right size radial roller bearing (not the 38 case with BB) to put under the BAS to make bolt lift a lot easier on an uncocked Savage rifle ... but now I can't find where I saw it.

If I recall correctly, the poster said the radial roller bearing worked a lot better than the normal cut-off 38 case and steel BB.

Can anyone point me to the thread or, alternately, tell me where to get the right bearing for this application?

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks, drybean. I'm a member but I guess I have to be a paid member to access it.

Sharpshooter did some extensive testing. The single bearing produces less friction than the multiple ball bearings, but the single center bearing can't be used for models in which the firing pin protrudes through the BAS.

To some small extent it may but don't expect it to reduce bolt lift 50%, it ain't gonna happen. BTW, Sharpshooter originated the idea years ago using a shortened 38/357 case with a ball bearing glued in the primer pocket. You can make them for a lot less then 8 bucks!

You'll also have to shorten the BAS. Measure the cocking piece sleeve end to end without it and one with it installed to the end of the bearing. The difference is the amount the BAS need to be shortened.

+1 with Bill. Also some people are putting ground washers on the BAS to space it out for the 38 case with bearing. This way it is totally reversible.
