    Caliber conversion

I will be ordering a 110 fcp hs in a few days. My question is if I was to get it in a 338lm could a person change it over to a 300wm if it ends up being something I don't like. Can I change the bolt head and barrel or is it not that simple.

If the mag is too long that is no problem. Better to long than to short.

To the best of my knowledge, the only thing required would be a bolt head change. Possibly a firing pin change due to the thicker Lapua bolt head possibly needing a longer pin. Not sure as I have never owned one of the 338 Lapua (nor do I care to) but just seems to be logical guesses.

I am not sure what the difference width wise would be between the 338LM and a 300WM as far as the mag goes. I am going to bet it wouldn't be too much of a difference if any as the width of those two isn't to awful different, about .045-.050" difference IIRC.

Again that is just speculation on my part, as I stated above I have no first hand experience with the 338LM in a Savage. Hopefully someone with hands on knowledge of that exact model will chime in and let you know definitively.

I think you would be money ahead by simply selling it and getting a new 300win mag version.
