Less stamped metal parts in them and the checkering was hand cut, not machine pressed.
How do you know it's a 61? Just curious. Did you find a date code or does it have a serial number without a starting letter?
I have a 1961 savage 110, 30.06. How do you think it would compare to a new savage. Rifle is very accurate, great condition.I get 1/2 to 1/4 groups with her. Were they built better, than the new one's.Pro's and con's.

Savage- "never say never".
Yeah, It was my fathers rifle. He bought it brand new in Kliens dept store in N.Y.. I was with him.He saved for months to get a new rifle, I think it went for around a $100.00 then. I was 11 yrs old. Your right , the rifle feels solid.
