    Bases/rings for L/H 110?

A buddy brought over his 270 yesterday. He has been telling me the rifle doesn't shoot well and he has to creep forward on the rear stock to be able to see clearly through his scope.

It's a Nikon Monarch 5.5x16 and it's mounted in weaver rings and bases. As it sits the scope is as far to the rear as it can go,the objective bell is up against the front ring. The front ring is a reverse deisgn.

I got online last night and looked, can't find a picatinny type mount for a l/h 110 with a flat reciever.

Somebody has run into this before, how did you fix it?
I don't care if we have to scrap the weavers and start over but don't want to have to spend a ridiculous amount of money to fix this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Howard

EGW, but don't waste your time with the LH one. The RH ones work just fine.

The only difference between the two is a very small chamfer on one side or the other. All of my LH rifles have EGW RH bases on them.

Here's a picture of the chamfer. It's a little over 1/8". If you wanted you could do the same with 5 minutes and a dremel.

Does the EGW one piece make it any harder to load from the top ?

    Yes and no. ;D

Yes, it does, but no worse than any other 1 piece picatinny type. I haven't had trouble loading anything in any of my stagger or centerfeeds. From 22-250 on up to my 338 Edge.

Try the Ken Farrel mounts. I have an old model 110C in 30-06 left hand with the flat receiver and round front which they took care of. Steve in opticsplanet.com can give you some references as well. You might try the warne of set rings that can help.
