Anybody else like Savage "FourTenner" .410 insert barrels?

I'd like one to fit into my Savage 220 12 guage. Anybody got one they'd like to sell or trade with me? Anybody else use them?

I have tried to pick one of these up from different shops and gun shows over the years, and they always seem to think they are made of solid gold. I just can't bring myself to pay prices higher than what I can pick up a brand new NEF/H&R .410 for. One of these days I'll bump into that $35 find in a box at an auction or gun show someday.

    Good luck on your search.

Thanks! Yeah, the only one I've got I found in a pawn shop without its box and they didn't know what it was, so I got it reasonable with some old partial boxes of .410 shells. That was a while, say 20 years, ago, tho.

BTW, I have NEVER seen a "FourTenner" for the 20 guage, although they advertised them at one time.

LGS here in town has one for the 20ga NIB and won't part with it. He has it hanging on the wall behind the glass cases just toying with me.

I had one for 20ga for several years, I let it go a few years ago to a guy that had been hounding me about it for a long time. Traded it for a 1960's Ambassadeur 5000-C in new condition still in the box and leather case with all of the factory goodies.

To me the 20 guage "FourTenners" never made much sense since most 20s don't need recoil reduction no matter how light they are and the .410 shells have cost more than 20s for many years now. Just my opinion. (So the reel you traded for DOES make sense).

If any of you have watched the utube video with the guy using the o/u Baikal with 4 different chokes and a four tenner it clearly shows that the choke you use in the 12 ga is minimal on your pattern.

After watching it I think the four tenners are more of a gimmick or something to shoot skeet with because I think you would just mangle your birds.
