Pelican 1750 works well for me, but in your application you've only got 1/4" extra space inside. It'll fit, but I wouldn't recommend 1/8 padding on the butt and muzzle.
Ok, so here is the problem, I purchased a Savage F/TR in 308 cal., I put a Nightforce 12-42x56 scope on it. This rifle is 50 inches long and I cannot find a case to transport it in. The couple cases that I did manage to find are way out their in price.
What are those of you out there using?
Thanks for your help in advance.

Pelican 1770 will work for you in length but it's out there in price.
Both of those are nice options, but WOW are they on the pricey side; a Pelican, 1770 is $370 and the 1750 is $209 also with the 1750 it only gives me a 1/4 inch on each end to play with. To me that is cutting it a little to close.
However; after all the money and time I spent getting this rifle together what's another 2-300 bucks to protect it? Of course the misses doesn't look at it that way.
Keep the ideas or deals coming. Thanks
Check out the Air Glide cases, I'm not sure about the length but they are a third of the price and can be found on Amazon.

The Air Glide is a great case, I have a Savage 12 BVSS with the factory 26 inch barrel and it has a couple inches to spare but not much. I'm in the process of building a benchrest rifle for my wife with a 30 inch barrel and a 2 inch muzzle brake. I was looking at some cases on midway. I would not use these if I were flying but for transporting from home to the range I'll give them a try.

The Plano gun guard works well, I have my f class target rifle in one
I have a plano. It seems like the larger diameter scopes have a hard time with it. The lid doesnt seem to want to close correctly.
I use a midway rifle drag bag, for my tactical rifle most of the time. Plenty long, and the material seems pretty sturdy.

I've been looking at the bonecrusher at Bass Pro. Can't remember the length but it looks sturdy.

I have a Savage target action with a 30 inch Brux and I use this. http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/game...ey&N=626381017
It gives me about an inch clearance on both ends and plenty of room for Sightron 10x50x60.
I have a Pelican 1750 and it will fit but recoil pad is up against the side of the case. Plus the Plano case is a little lighter. If I were flying with it I'd probably use the Pelican but for car travel the Plano seems to be plenty strong enough.
same one i use lrpv 30" shilen with a sightron 10x50x60 on it plenty of room for me
This is awesome my rifle is a 24in barrel savage 11 in a Choate tactical stock and a 5.5-25x50 Falcon Menace.

I use an Aim 60 Tactical drag bag for my savage f/tr, available from aim fieldsports in the UK see here
I bought the Airglide which supposedly accommodates 50" rifles but I couldn't get my 12 F Class into it (rifle is supposedly 50" on the money).
I ended up getting
Plano Molding All Weather Double Scoped Rifle/Shotgun Wheeled Case w/ Free Shipping
for $150 from OpticsPlanet.com
and the rifle fits...but just barely.
If you are not flying and only need a case to put the rifle in to carry in your car/truck, check out the Creedmoor Sports Deluxe Padded Scoped Rifle Case. It is 52"x12" and is designed for the scoped long range rifle. At $117 it won't break the bank. I have one for my NM AR-15 and I am very happy with it.
I have a 12 BR w/ a 29" barrel, Nighforce 12-42 and it fits in this case.
Got it local for around $50.
I use the SKB double rifle case:

For my 12F, and I have the same scope, NF 12-42x56. I took the center divider out and cut it out in outline for my rifle/scope. So it actually sits down in the divider insert, but the scope doesn't touch the divider. Pretty solid case and it sits securely inside.
Considering the overall cost of the rig, a couple hundred bucks for a case to keep it safe was a no brainer to me.
12F, McGowen 6.5x284 1-8" twist, Nightforce 12-42x BR
BVSS, McGowen barrel, 22-250 1-9" twist, Nikon 6-18x
16 FHLSS Weather Warrior, Sinarms 257 Roberts, Pentax 3-9
Stevens 200, 223 bone-factory-stock, Nikon 3-9x
Scratch-built BVSS, LW 243 1-8" twist, Viper 6.5-20x50 mil-dot
This is what I use for my Savage 12 VLP BDM: http://www.gandermountain.com/modper...s.cgi?i=617469
It's a tight fit, but it works if you cut or replace one of the eggshell foam pads.
ADDED: Do you really want to trust your $3000 rifle + scope kit to a $50 or $60 case?

I am using this for my 30" F class. Fits in great and I love it.

This is what I use for my F-class rifles and long barreled varmint rifles if I'm not flying. Barrels on these rifles are 30" and have 12-42 NF scopes on them.
