    26 Nosler

Has anyone seen of these? I just ran across a mention of it. Looks like they are going into the long range 6.5 market. It's non belted and holds 12gr more water than the 264 Win mag brass.

Haven't seen one yet but I've heard a bit about them.
Instead of waiting for one I ordered a 6.5 x 284 Savage for my 6.5 kick. I have a .338 Win Mag if I need more gun.

there are a couple of threads here that discuss it with some depth.

Nosler is the only one with rifles($$$) and brass($) for now. I think I saw PTG has reamers for it if you want to build one.

Good varmint round, legally too small to use in Iowa for deer.

Better read the rule book again. CLICK HERE and scroll down to page 24 in the lower right corner.

Iowa allows Centerfire Rifles .24 caliber and larger to be used in the January Rifle Season. That season is only open in the bottom two tiers of counties. A 26 Nosler being based on the 6.5mm/.264" bullet is more than enough for deer, let alone bigger critters like elk and some species of bear as a couple of examples.

I have been hunting the Iowa Rifle season every year so far since they started it, has always been that way.

Agreed, seems like it would be more of a medium game/big game round. If the sd is there it should be a hammer out to 1k.

Do you consider the 264 WinMag a varmint round?

Good grief, if that was true the 338 WM might be a "satisfactory" deer round. How in the world could one assume a, basically magnum 6.5 round, would not be legal for deer? This is not some zippy 17 cal round, this round would probably drop deer at 1000yds with the heavier bullets.
